Overview

The Accelerated Clinical Dental Support Worker Pathway is a unique, government-funded program that allows participants to get HARP certified at NO COST to you or your employer. The Skills Development Fund has partnered with Dental Training Canada to help upskill and certify as many dental support workers as possible to significantly reduce the staff shortage in Ontario, and to give you the opportunity to exponentially accelerate your career growth.


Documentation 

  • For Internationally Trained Dentists please attach the credential evaluation from either WES, ECE, IQAS, ICAS or NDEB Registration.
  • For those who have 1 year experience in chairside assistance, please attach a letter of employment to confirm this.
  • Candidates who are new to the industry, with no background, may also apply


Program Structure

  1. Dental Support Worker Foundations Course
  2. HARP1 Dental Radiography - HARP Approved Course
Format & Timeline

7-week hybrid program consisting of:

  • 6 weeks of self-paced online learning (3 weeks foundations theory, 3 weeks HARP theory)
  • Weekly zoom calls with an instructor to clarify concepts and ensure satisfactory progress
  • Online multiple-choice final exam (75% passing grade required, unlimited attempts)
  • 1 weekend of hands-on practical training in a dental clinic near you

Practical Component

During the practical weekend (7th week), you will:
  • Practice completing 2 full mouth series on a manikin head
  • Assist teammates with their practical exercises
  • Receive assessment from your instructor
  • Earn your certificate upon successful completion

Please note: Dental Training Canada currently offers 3 simultaneous practical locations across Ontario during practical weekends. You will be assigned a location within the first week of starting the course. We cannot guarantee that you will be assigned a location in your town or city, but we will do our best to minimize travel time for you.

After completing the program, you will be connected with two employment partners, DentalForce & AviroHR, who will help you secure a placement if you are not currently employed or are looking for another position within a dental office.
